South African Red Papier Mache Shweshwe bowls (set of three)

In the Xhosa language, Wola Nani means "we embrace and develop one another. In South Africa, the Wola Nani organization does just that - they initiated programmes to help HIV+ people in the local community cope with the emotional and financial strains brought about by HIV and AIDS. Unemployed, HIV+ women make these beautiful papier mache Shweshwe bowls to earn an income for themselves and their families.

This set of 3 bowls makes a striking statement both visually and socially. The largest bowl is 10 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall, the medium is 9 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall and the small is 7 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches tall.
