Hand-embroidered shawls have been fashioned and worn in the Bolivian Andes since the colonial period. Alpaca Style's skilled Aymara artisans continue this tradition embroidering classic as well as contemporary designs on baby alpaca cloth - one of the finest natural fibers in the world. Some is hand-embroidered and some by machine, their traditional scarves and capes are worn by women in their highland home, El Alto, and they also have the production capacity to provide their new designs to fashion centers of Europe and the U.S.
