[Ceramics, Honduras]
Cultural anthropologist Alessandra Foletti has been working with about 200 women potters for almost 15 years recreating hand-burnished pre-Colombian designs. They also produce contemporary pieces, like those of US designer Gary di Pasquale whose ATA assignment was to create a new collection. "Lenca" pottery, a collection named for the tribal origins of the potters. ATA helped market these ceramics at trade shows in New York and at High Point, North Carolina. ATA has also helped with production introducing slab rollers, molds and a fuel-efficient kiln, particularly important where firewood is scarce.
