Artemano

Artemano

[Ceramics, El Salvador]

Artemano was established as a fair trade and eco-friendly enterprise. They offer a variety of products from the artisan community of Guatajiagua, in Morazan, El Salvador. The community expresses its cultural heritage through the crafting of black pottery products, their principal source of income.
Most pieces, home, kitchen and garden pieces, are shaped by the women. The men are responsible for firing the pieces in kilns made from white dirt and clay. One of the unusual features of Guatajiagua’s products is the black color obtained from the seeds of the Nacazcol tree.
